This course is designed to train basic training and assessing skills and includes the use of teaching aids, lesson planning and delivery and is predominantly geared towards first aid training but may be adapted to any subject matter in which the candidate has adequate prior knowledge and experience of. An independent, qualified person will assess each candidate at the end of day four. On successful completion they will receive a certificate, (valid for 3 years).

The HSE booklet "the training of first aid at work" indicates that trainers and assessors must include a portfolio that includes:

  • a current First Aid at Work certificate;
  • a certificate showing a training qualification and;
  • a c.v. detailing experiences applied to teaching and first aid in the workplace over the previous 3 years. This must also include a minimum of 2 theoretical and 2 practical teaching and / or assessing sessions (as appropriate).
